Carol Bolger

Chairperson

Carol Bolger is a Chartered Director, an Assessor with the Institute of Director’s Board Evaluation service and a tutor on the Chartered Director Programme.  She is a non-executive Director on the Board of Link Asset Services Ltd and Chairman of Utexam Solutions Ltd.  She is member of the Audit Committee of the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine.  She has broad banking experience gained in Corporate and Business Banking in Bank of Ireland and Ulster Bank where she held senior roles including Chief Operating Officer and Director of Strategy & Planning.
 
Carol is a Certified Bank Director and holds qualifications in Finance and Strategy & Innovation.  She is an also an Executive Coach accredited by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council.  A Fellow and a former Council Member of the Institute of Banking, she held the position of Vice President in 2005. 

Carol recently agreed to become a Patron of Chapter Zero Ireland, a community of non-executive directors who lead Irish boardroom discussions on the impacts of climate change.

Frank Burke

Frank Burke joined An Post as a Junior Postperson in September 1976 and is currently Processing Area Manager in the Dublin Mails Centre. He became a union activist in 1979 and was elected to the Parcels Outdoor Branch Committee where he also served as Chairman.

Frank is currently Branch Secretary of the CWU Dublin Mails Managers Branch and a member of the National Executive Council. He holds a certificate in Trade Union and Business Studies from the National College of Industrial Relations. 

Paula Butler

Paula Butler joined An Post in 2014 as Head of Procurement with expertise in supply chain management. Prior to An Post, Paula held many procurement focussed roles in a variety of companies and industries:, including regulatory, pharmaceutical, hardware & software manufacturers and a regional airline. Paula holds an  MBS from Dublin City University, Diploma from Kings Inns and a BA in Business Studies from University of Liverpool. She serves as Secretary to the Board.

Peter Coyne

Peter Coyne is an experienced Non-Executive Director with expertise in Audit and Risk Committee chairman roles across a range of CBI regulated entities. He is a Chartered Accountant with more than 20 years’ experience advising companies and boards on M+A transactions, Fundraising, Corporate Strategy, IPO and Takeover Offers. He is currently Principal with Diamond Splash Ltd and previously held senior positions in Vision Consulting Ltd, AIB Corporate Finance Ltd and Arthur Andersen and Co. He is a non-executive director in Ark Life Assurance Company and previously held a non-executive directorship with Trinity Biotech.

Barry Gavin

Barry Gavin is an adjunct lecturer in the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School where he lectures in Sustainable finance and Renewable Energy Finance. He previously held executive roles with an Irish IPP and now sits on the boards of entities and investment funds in various roles, including Independent Chair, Chair of Audit & Risk as well as Independent Non-Executive Director.

Barry brings over 20 years-experience of C-Suite and Board experience in the area of Sustainability and Climate Change, specifically in Renewable Power, Buildings, Transport and Municipalities sectors.  He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA), a graduate of DCU (BA & MBA) a member of the Institute of Directors (Dip IoD) and a graduate of the Saïd Business School, Leading Sustainable Corporations Programme.
 

Helen Kelly

Helen Kelly is a Senior Counsel.  Helen has expertise in EU and Irish competition law and regulation and who has worked in Dublin, London and Brussels. She has more than 25 years' experience advising on complex competition and regulatory issues including merger control associated with major M&A transactions and litigation before Irish and EU Courts.
Helen was previously a senior partner at Matheson where she led the EU Competition and Regulatory practice for 21 years. She is a law graduate of Trinity College, Dublin (LL.B) and the London School of Economics (LLM).

Matt Kennedy

Dr. Matt Kennedy is Arup’s Global Leader for Climate Strategy Services and is the Europe Region Sustainable Development Leader, responsible for delivering climate change services and sustainable development within infrastructure, property and cities.

Matt brings 25 years’ experience in delivering national and international carbon, climate change and sustainable development initiatives across government, industry and academia. Matt was Lead Negotiator for the European Union at the UN Paris Agreement (COP21) negotiations and was previously Chair of the UNEP’s Climate Technology Centre. 

Matt previously worked with the Irish Government, University College Cork, and the United Nations where he led clean energy and climate transformation projects across Africa, Asia and Middle East. 

Matt holds a PhD in Engineering from Trinity College Dublin and Masters’ degrees from NUI Galway and University College Dublin. He is a Chartered Sustainability professional with IEMA.
 

Sinéad Mahon

Sinead Mahon is Head of Investment Banking at Goodbody since March 2023. Previously she held the role of Managing Director and Country Head at Credit Suisse AG, Dublin Branch, where her responsibilities include oversight of governance, culture, risk management and conduct. She was previously COO and Board member at a leading global banking group in Ireland, including during its expansion to become European hub. She has also served as CFO and Strategic Transformation Director of a financial institution in Ireland.

Sinead holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Dublin, is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland, holds a first class MBA from Dublin City University, has a Diploma in Company Direction and is a Certified Bank Director. She sits on the Council of the Federation of International Banks in Ireland (FIBI).

Anthony McCrave

Anthony McCrave joined An Post as a Postal Operative in March 1999. In 2001 he moved to the network duties driving to the Dublin and Portlaoise mail centres and is currently working in Dundalk Delivery Services Unit as a Postal Operative covering a network duty to the Dublin Mails Centre.  

Anthony became an active member of the Communications Workers’ Union at local level and has been Branch Secretary since 2007. He has also been a member of the National Executive Council since 2012 and he serves on numerous joint working groups. 

Pádraig McNamara

Postmaster Director

Appointed for a second term on January 1, 2022

Pádraig McNamara is the Postmaster director. Padraig is the postmaster in Granard, Co. Longford. He has been Postmaster at Granard for 22 years and a member of the Irish Postmasters’ Union Executive for 17 years and served as Vice President.

David McRedmond

Chief Executive Officer

David McRedmond was appointed Chief Executive Officer of An Post in October, 2016. He was previously CEO of TV3 where he transformed the company into a major Irish broadcaster, concluding with its sale to Liberty Global in December 2015. Prior to TV3, David was the Commercial Director of Eircom and the Managing Director of Eircom Enterprises. His early career was as a retail industry executive in the UK and USA where he held senior roles such as Operations Director of Waterstones, Managing Director of WH Smith Travel Retail and CEO of WH Smith Inc.

A native of Dublin, David holds a Masters degree in Modern Irish History from UCD. He completed the Top Management Programme at the Cabinet Office, UK and the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD. He is the non-executive Chairman of Eir, Ireland’s leading telecoms company, a director of Premier Lotteries Ireland and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

William Mooney

William Mooney has worked in the postal service since 1982 and is currently employed as a post office clerk. He is a director of The Prize Bond Company. He is a member of the National Executive Council of the Communications Workers’ Union and Secretary of the Dublin Postal Clerks Branch. He is a graduate of the National College of Ireland where he studied human resource management and employee relations.

Kieran Mulvey

Appointed September 16, 2019

Kieran Mulvey served as Chief Executive of the Labour Relations Commission from 1991 to 2016 and as Director General of the Workplace Relations Commission until June 2016. Kieran was appointed by the Government to chair mediation talks on the transfer of the National Maternity Hospital to the St Vincent’s campus, and has prepared a Report for the Government Task Force on a ten year Regeneration Plan for Dublin’s North Inner City. He was Chairman of the Refund Project which raised over €1 million for homeless charities.

Kieran is former General Secretary of the Association of Secondary Teachers, Ireland (ASTI) and Irish Federation of University Teachers (IFUT). He has also acted as a Consultant with the EU and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and has served on many University Boards and Government Bodies/Agencies. He is currently Chairman of Sport Ireland,  the Government Body for the National Sports Campus and Sports Funding.  A graduate of UCD, he holds several postgraduate qualifications in Education and Law. A Fellow of the Educational Institute of Scotland, he holds Honorary Doctorates of Laws from the National University of Ireland and UCD and is an Honorary Fellow of the Employment Law Association.  He was recently conferred with the first Honorary Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD).

Martina O'Connell

Martina O’Connell joined An Post in 1993 as an auxiliary postperson and is now working as a postal operative in Cork’s South City Delivery Office. She has been elected President of the Communications Workers’ Union. An active member of the union since she joined the company, she has been a member of the National Executive Council since 2002 and serves on a number of sub-committees.

Mary O’Donovan

Mary O’Donovan is a Chartered Director with board experience in the public, private and charitable sectors. She is currently a Board member of the Residential Tenancies Board and a Board Member of Transport Infrastructure Ireland.

She has broad experience at a senior level in operations, systems and general management and has held senior roles including Customer Services Director, Chief Information Officer, Chief Operations officer and General Manager in the Telecommunications and BPO sectors. Mary is a native of Clonakilty and holds a B.E Elec from University College Cork with an M.B.A from University College Galway.

Gerry Sexton

Gerry Sexton joined An Post in September 1984 as a Postperson. On completion of his training in the CSO Sheriff Street Gerry worked in Dublin 16 Delivery Service Unit (DSU) for one year before moving to Dublin 8 DSU where he is currently based, performing his delivery by E-trike.
 
A CWU activist for over 30 years, Gerry has covered many roles including local committee member in James Street DSU, progressing to Branch Representative and Committee Member of the Dublin Postal Delivery Branch.
 
In 2011 Gerry was elected as Vice-Chairperson of the Dublin Postal Delivery Branch and in 2014 was elected Branch Treasurer, a position he still holds. Gerry has been a member of the National Executive Council of the CWU since 2016.
