First Line Risk Manager, Retail

Purpose

We’re looking for an experienced professional to join us as a key member of our Financial Services Team. The role works in the First Line of Defence supporting the team to manage our risk and enhance our control environment. The role has a direct reporting line to the Assurance Manager within the Financial Services team.


Key responsibilities/accountabilities include but are not limited to:
  •  Supporting the development and implementation of the compliance and risk management frameworks in An Post.

  • Working with the Financial Services team to identify, assess, document and review all risks through completing Risk Control Self Assessments (RCSA’s).

  • Supporting the Financial Services team to design and implement controls that mitigate identified risks.

  • Leading the risk assurance/internal control work through periodic independent control checks and report recommendations and agreed management action plans to the Assurance Manager and the Financial Services Director.

  • Ensuring a robust fit for purpose Risk Register is compiled and maintained across the full ambit of Financial Services Products.

  • Leading/managing the errors and escalation process, to ensure that events are investigated, communicated to senior management, on a timely basis, and that action plans are developed by the appropriate parties.

  • Support with the documentation of risk and compliance procedures and carry out training with the business as required.

  • Supporting the Assurance Manager and the AML Manager in co-ordinating the completion of the annual Business Risk Assessment.

  • Providing detailed Management Information, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), to Senior Management on a monthly basis.

  • Tracking the implementation of all SLOD Assurance and TLOD Audit recommendations and supporting the Business in implementing appropriate changes in Procedures and Controls.

  • Demonstrating An Post Values and behaviours in your day to day work and addressing behaviour that supports/ conflicts with them.

Knowledge & Experience

You will have experience working in a similar role for a minimum of 4 years with a comprehensive understanding of Risk and Compliance regulatory requirements. You should have relevant experience in a similar role within a Risk Function, Compliance Function or other Internal Audit Function, preferably in the financial services or insurance industries.  Experience working in a Three Lines of Defence (3LOD) Risk Management model with a track record of delivering high quality oversight across multiple products and entities is key.  A strong understanding of current and emerging risks and practical experience of managing an effective control environment is required.
Preferably you will have a relevant qualification in business, accounting, finance or risk management, in addition, the ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
  • A proven ability to work to challenging timelines;

  • The ability to understand and explain process requirements and communicate this information clearly and concisely;

  • Experience of enforcing compliance with strict guidelines;

  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
